Affiliate disclosure
savorin.online earns money when a reader follows a partner link and buys something. This page explains exactly how that works, what it is worth to us, and what it is not allowed to buy.
The arrangement, in plain terms
BohDo Fast Transport s.r.o., the publisher of this site, holds affiliate agreements with advertisers in the consumer security category. Under such an agreement, the advertiser pays a commission when a reader we referred completes a purchase. The commission is paid out of the advertiser’s own margin. It is not added to your price, and you pay no more for having used our link than you would have paid going direct.
How you can always tell
A commercial link on this site is never disguised as an ordinary editorial link. Every one of them carries all four of the following, without exception:
- Machine-readable attributes.
rel="sponsored nofollow noopener", so that search engines and automated tools can identify the link as paid. - A visible label. The words Partner link appear directly beneath every button, including the ones in sidebars.
- A commission note. A line under each call to action stating that we earn a commission and that it costs you nothing extra.
- A disclosure above the fold. The bar at the very top of every page, plus a disclosure box immediately after the headline of any article that carries advertising — before any promotional content appears.
If you ever find a commercial link on this site missing any of the four, that is a defect. Please report it to info@savorin.online.
The redirect page
Partner links point first to a short page on savorin.online — currently /c/1/ — which forwards your browser to the advertiser. That page exists so that we can change a destination in one place rather than editing every article, and so that campaign parameters already present in the address you arrived on can be passed through for attribution.
The redirect page sets no cookie and stores nothing. It is excluded from search indexes through robots.txt rather than by a noindex tag, so that link equity is handled the way search engines expect for a paid link.
What the money does not buy
The commercial relationship decides which product is advertised here. It has no influence at all on what is written about it. Concretely:
- No advertiser reads an article before publication. None has approval or veto rights over any sentence.
- We publish the limitations of advertised products in the same article that advertises them — including limitations the advertiser would rather we omitted.
- We recommend free alternatives, by name, where they are the reasonable choice.
- We accept no review units, gifts, trips, briefings, interviews or payments in kind.
- We invent no ratings, no testimonials and no deadlines. The full list of what we refuse to do is in the editorial policy.
We are not going to claim the arrangement is neutral. A site funded by commission on security software has an obvious structural interest in you buying security software. The honest response is not to deny that, it is to name it, to publish the mechanism, and to give you the primary sources so that you can reach your own conclusion — including the conclusion that the free option built into your operating system is enough. Judge the argument, not the byline.
Regulatory basis for this disclosure
This disclosure is made to comply with, among others: the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/EC), which prohibits presenting advertising as independent editorial content; the e-Commerce Directive (2000/31/EC), which requires commercial communication to be clearly identifiable; Czech Act No. 40/1995 Coll. on the regulation of advertising; and the advertising policies of the platforms through which traffic may reach this site.
